Hi, my name is Lucy, I’m 26 , and I’m a teacher. I am half deaf in my right ear, and have been for 8 years. I have just started using a hearing aid to help hear the children in the classroom as it can get pretty busy and loud in there.
I find it particularly difficult to hear when there is background noise, for example a kitchen tap, or on the streets where there are lots of people.
I can use my mobile to make and take calls, but I will always use my left ear to listen because of the hearing loss in my right ear. This is frustrating as I am right handed so I have to awkwardly hold my phone to my left ear.
I took the Audacious Sound Check online, the hearing test was really easy to follow, and quick. My experience was very surprising. I didn’t expect to be able to hear my phone calls easier without having to do hardly anything!
As I don’t use my right ear to use my phone, because I can never hear very well, I tried the hearing test mainly on that ear. It sounded so much clearer and I felt as though I could gain confidence in using my phone on the right ear.
As I am currently living away from where I grew up and living a very busy life style of a teacher, I often make calls to my family and friends in my car. I was so excited and surprised to find that the Audacious SIM card has the same clarity through my Bluetooth in my car as it does whilst using the handset against my ear.
It was always a struggle to hear the person on the other end of the phone whilst driving and I would give up and then never remember to call them back later.
Audacious phone calls are incredibly helpful to those with hearing loss, coming from someone who is just getting to terms with her hearing loss it has given me more confidence to make calls whenever I want to, whatever the noise level.
